“The Art of the Film” Featurette for #GhostInTheShell

A featurette after my own heart: Get a behind-the-scenes look at “The Art of the Film” for GHOST IN THE SHELL (which premieres March 31st in the USA), featuring a look at some of the designs involved, and a look at Pre-Vis (which I would not have categorised under “Art Dept”, but still…).

And if you are interested, I have been featuring (and hopefully continue to) “Making Of” posts HERE on the #ghostintheshellfan blog, based on behind-the-scenes snaps from the director Rupert Sander’s Instagram @rupertmsanders - which you can scroll down for select hawks, followed by a select credit roll listing of the Art Department for GITS :)

Concept for Major’s panel lines — we tried many variations but this one was the most loved.

A post shared by rupert sanders (@rupertmsanders) on

"In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others."
